Ford_capri Auto Bild has released a sketch of a concept car which will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the famous Capri coupé launched in 1969.

According to company sources, Ford has planned to unveil a modern reinterpretation of the Capri model to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The concept car will preview a future coupé expected to hit the showrooms by 2012. The rumoured model would be a 2+2 weighing about 1,500kg. It would be available with a large engine range including four, five and six cylinder petrol units. Power outputs would range between 140 and 250bhp. Details remain scarce and it is unknown whether that car will feature a RWD platform or not.

Ford wants the future model to compete with the new Scirocco and the entry-level is expected to start at £15,000.
